Milan Fashion Week Menswear AW15: Versace

Basic instinct

As a lit up deconstructed Versace Medusa head set the scene, Donatella Versace restrained herself from bold prints and bright colours as she unveiled a simple and tailored lineup – it was “Versace stripped” as she explained before the Autumn/Winter 15 show in Milan...

Compared to past seasons, Versace's AW15 collection was still glamourous but understated, with a spotlight shining brightly on neutral earth tones, luxurious fabrics and '90s silhouettes – tailored attire and streetwear. There was an abundance of crisp suiting in a variety of different materials, from a faded metallic suit and tie, to a striped tailored jacket worn over a tight ribbed jumper – a particular style Donatella's brother Gianni would have coveted we are sure.

She also remixed classic styles with simple yet iconic Versace-esque touches, such as shortening and rolling up hems – pairing them with black socks and vintage-looking loafers, and using gold clasps instead of buttons on blazers. Modernising classic sporty apparel, Versace's AW15 lineup also saw thick leggings, hoodies lined with fur, heavy bomber jackets and oversized baggy trousers.
