Milan Fashion Week Menswear SS16: Calvin Klein
Clean and simple
Italo Zucchelli presents a clean, urbane and stripped back collection, true to the Calvin Klein design codes, this Spring/Summer 16 season. A simplified palette that hinted at a military influence, which was supported by the muscular tailoring of some of the jackets and pants. A draped belt detail appeared on the majority of the pants, lending a sort-of city warrior vibe to the collection. Military style jackets that came with breast and mid torso pockets covered in zips also felt rather macho. More toughness came through the fabric selection, seeing sturdy cotton and twill used throughout.
Conversely, Zucchelli, infused an influence from another element of inspiration, the book A Few Palm Trees by Californian artist Ed Ruscha. Seeing the only print motif in the collection appear in the form of faded palm trees across T-shirts.
