Milan Fashion Week Menswear AW15: Jil Sander

Rodolfo Paglialunga’s menswear debut

Working for a label well-known for its twisted classics (thanks to its namesake founder), Rodolfo Paglialunga has now brought the Hamburg-born brand into the world of menswear with a collection made up of youthful tailoring and utilitarian modernity…

Jil Sander's Autumn/Winter 2015 Milan runway was a no fuss-zone yesterday, as Rodolfo Paglialunga presented his first ever men's looks for the label, which included oversized trousers, leather boots, chunky sweaters and outlandish colours.

Creating a modern-day wardrobe for the working man, (whatever occupation, lawyer or artist) the collection featured beautifully sculpted separates and mannish outerwear. There was leather trenchcoats, double-face cashmere jackets, double-breasted grey coats belted at the hips, and workwear detailing – drawstrings, utility pockets and leather belts – adding some extra mystery to the lineup's classic shapes.

And, after a long career in women's wear – having worked at Romeo Gigli, Prada and Vionnet – it's safe to say Paglialunga had a smooth transition to men's.
