Introducing Balenciaga's Fall 2021 collection
“Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow”
It's no surprise that Demna Gvasalia writes his own rules. He masterfully creates clothes that are meant to be worn and last a lifetime, and for Fall 2021, he did just that. The Georgian designer revealed Balenciaga's Fall 2021 collection in a video game designed especially for this season. Titled 'Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow' the hybrid video game-meets-fashion show featured the longevity of the collection and how it's meant to transform over many years.
Below, we revisit the collection – one that merged tough, vintage, and sporty styles with an attitude of casual elegance.
From outerwear jackets to cargo shorts engineered onto the front of jeans and retro astronaut wear to blankets that transform into coats or hooded capes, the collection showcases performance tailoring at its best.
Envisioning a mythological, space-age adventure set in the year 2031, the collection was showcased in a video game where players were invited to a virtual store to a dark forest and a picturesque mountaintop at sunset. We brought the avators to life in an exclusive lookbook below...
