Buro 24/7 Middle East Exclusive: Oscar de la Renta backstage AW14
Bold beauty moves by New York's finest
With a collection that is always anticipated as a New York Fashion Week highlight, Oscar De La Renta AW14 offered looks comprised of an assortment of embellished garments, with embroidered daywear and glamorous evening gowns being key. The colour palette ranged from pretty pastels to bold hues of ruby red and sapphire blue – and to complement that, the designer called in his hair and make-up dream team, Orlando Pita and Gucci Westman.
Eyes came first for Westman, Oscar's most trusted make-up artist. The daytime look was inspired directly by the collection's mint coats, translated by clear and glossy lips and shades of black highlighting the eyes and adding a touch of the autumnal in terms of colour tone – resulting in the chic sophistication and elegance that the brand is so known.
In conjunction, stylist Orlando Pita wanted the hair to, quite frankly, speak for itself by applying edgy, short-cut staggered wigs that gave the label's usually super feminine runway a bold, modern feel.
