Cathy Horyn announces a return to fashion
The New York Times critic makes the cut...
Horyn will serve as critic-at-large for The Cut, and will cover both Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections in New York and Paris for The New York Magazine-owned site.
After her retirement from her 15-years as a fashion critic at the New York Times, Horyn had penned occasional stories for The New York Times, including a much-talked-about column on Saint Laurent for T Magazine and was writing a book that will be published by Rizzoli, exploring how The New York Times has covered fashion from the 1850s to the present.
"Cathy was always on our dream list for her unique authority and style," said The Cut's editorial director Stella Bugbee, who explained to WWD that Horyn "was not looking" to return to the fashion circuit. "We approached her," Bugbee said. "It wasn't a very long convincing process."
“I think she’s going to be doing a mix of things for us — traditional reviews and exploring what a site like ours has to offer,” Bugbee added. “She’s not limited strictly to reviews. I’m hoping she’ll have a lot of fun with it.”
