Topshop will launch a vegan footwear collection this year
Launching overnight, the collection is comprised of six styles (available in two colourways) including Birkenstock-inspired slides and flats as well as a variety of heels including slingbacks and mules.
In a statement, Maddy Evans, Topshop's Fashion Director, said, "We are really excited to be launching our first vegan collection this April. Initially we are focusing on footwear and introducing six new styles that are produced alongside our premium shoe lines in Spain. We can't wait to see how shoppers respond to the design-led collection and how far we can push vegan products across our accessories offering."
The brand isn't the first to explore animal-friendly footwear, though it is a welcome addition to the expanding landscape. Last year, Stella McCartney designed a pair of vegetarian sneakers as part of her collaboration with Adidas and Meghan Markle brought sneaker brand Veja to the forefront.
It is not yet known if the collection will be available for purchase within Middle Eastern stores however it is available to buy online now.
