Nike creates exclusive shoes in celebration of 'Air Max Day'
Taking place on March 26
On March 26, 1987, Nike released the 'Nike Air Max 1', created by shoe designer Tinker Hatfield. This was an important day in the brand's legacy as it was the first footwear to feature a visible Air window - which ultimately paved the way for future designs including the Air Max Light, Air Max 90, 93, 95, 97, 360, BW and even the Air Max Lunar90.
To commemorate almost three decades since the launch of the iconic design, Nike will mark 'Air Max Day' on March 26 - which urges fans worldwide to wear their favourite Air Max shoes, and highlight the same via social media sites using the hashtag #AIRMAX.
In further celebrations, Nike is set to release a special edition style - 'Air Max 1', in which the signature 'University Red' colourway, is given a new lease of life with a Volt colour treatment as well as a 3.26-emblazoned tongue. The new model is available to pre-order on Nike.com for $125 USD.
