London's fashion scene saw contemporary British shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood set up shop at the Mercer Street Studios this week, to show his unexpected menswear edit to the industry

British shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood is perhaps better known for his eclectic women's designs, yet this season – for his fourth men's collection – he has decided to unleash a rainbow of colour, pattern, and shine.

The edit was presented in London this week, in tandem with a film entitled Walk that was projected onto six large screens at Mercer Street Studios. Kirkwood kept to traditional silhouettes, except adding contrast when it came to stitching and borders.

He also made use of materials such as rubberised leather across mint lace-ups, two-tone slip-ons and brogues with toecaps made from a metallic sports mesh.

“Men are getting more adventurous," the designer explained, going on to say that, "shoe floors are looking more exciting, lot more can be done – as long as the styling and the feel remains masculine.”
