Milan Fashion Week: Santoni Fall/Winter '16 presentation
Masculinity in femininity
Luxury Italian shoemaker Santoni presented its Fall/Winter '16 collection in Milan during Fashion Week and Buro 24/7 Middle East was there to see the reveal. Drawing on the old Hollywood glamour of Marlene Dietrich, the brand's new collection reflects the modern woman; strong yet elegant and assertive yet gentle.
Santoni masterfully mixes design cues from both men's and women's footwear, combining brogues with heels and laces with slippers. Add to this embroidery and a rich colour palette and the collection successfully achieves a reinterpretation of classic footwear.
The campaign, shot in monochrome by Olivier Zahm, sees entertainer Caroline Vreeland embrace the role of Dietrich, reproducing the glamour and mystery of the Hollywood star. CEO of Sanotni, Giuseppe Santoni, spoke about the collection saying, "I really love Olivier Zahm's aesthetics, cooperating with him is always so inspiring. He was able to catch the soul of our collection, inspired by Marlene Dietrich's iconic and timeless beauty, with his sophisticated, sensual and original visual language. The superlative portraits of Caroline Vreeland, as well as the Santoni collection, are a perfect mix of fashion, sensuality and art."
