Adidas reveal the world's first sneaker made from ocean waste

Walking on (cleaner) water

At a recent United Nations talk, Adidas revealed the world's first sneaker upper made from ocean waste. Take a closer look at the conservation sports shoe that is sure to make waves…

Adidas is taking its own steps to cleaning up our oceans in a new collaboration with preservation organisation – Parley for the Oceans. The sports brand recently revealed at a United Nations talk, a new sneaker, the upper of which is formed entirely of ocean waste, including disregarded plastics and illegal deep-sea gill nets.

The plastics and netting are fortified and formed into a swirling aqua pattern that is reminiscent of the ocean. The sole is just as any high performance Adidas runner boost sole. The net materials used on this prototype were sourced from an illegal poaching vessel off the coast of South Africa. We love the ethos behind this and the fact that adidas have made preserving our marine environments this stylish.
