If you’re an avid street style follower, the chances are you’ve hear of Mimi Cuttrell. Synonymous for dressing the most influential fashion darlings, the stylist’s roster of clients includes the Hadid sisters, Ariana Grande, Priyanka Chopra, Sara Sampaio, who she dresses for both their red carpet appearances as well as their day to day runs. Remember Gigi’s electric pink suit? That was Mimi. Bella’s 90s inspired denim look? Again, Mimi at work.
The 28-year-old is now sharing her sartorial styling skills with the masses through a new collaboration with cult NYC brand, 3×1. A self-proclaimed denim lover, who made the label’s High Rise Split Seam Bell Jean a best-seller after she got Bella to wear them over and over again, Mimi shared the exciting news to her Instagram. “A labor of love. I have been working with my friends @3×1 for almost a year to make a collection of denim that is perfectly tailored and includes all my must-have silhouettes,” she captioned a picture of her dressed in the Diana jeans and B Jacket from the new collaboration.
The 12 piece vintage-inspired collection is comprised of a variety of silhouettes that easily transition from day to night dressing, with each piece named after someone special to Mimi, like the ‘dad jean’ appropriately named after her father, “Kirk” and the “Diana” for her style inspiration Princess Di. Other cuts include a sexy, tight black flared number inspired by Bella’s original jean, which include an extra-snug fit around the knees. There’s also the “Willow”, a looser fit jean that has cut-outs along the hip bones and that according to Mimi, “is a little ‘out there’ and different.”
“I started with some of my favourite vintage denim pieces from my personal collection. These served as a great base to the start of my collection,” explains Mimi. “The next step was to focus on the fit. As a stylist, I am consistently transforming outfits with the art of tailoring. It was so important to me that these pieces would have a loose, comfortable fit, but are tight and form-fitting in the best places.”
The collection also includes the B Jacket, a reversible all-weather number and ode to California girls in a vegan shearling; the G.I. Tank, a comfortable ribbed jersey knit top based on the shape of one of Mimi’s vintage Gucci dresses; and a drawing of her sweet poodle Mazie in every pocket of the capsule.
