Buro 24/7 Exclusive: Backstage at Noon By Noor SS15
Spring is our favourite season so it is only natural that we are drawn to new beginnings and fresh starts." State Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa, talking of the SS15 collection they designed together.
"We were inspired by the vibrant colours and textures that bloom at the start of the new season, and wanted this collection to be a celebration of spring in all its youth and beauty so we referenced fresh flowers and lush greenery when developing the floral and botanical prints."
Seems sound. And a relatively simple thought process to back the clothing on show. But it was the unexpected detail here that really impressed, such as floral-print silk pants that were a highlight, plus a peach panel dress with a sheer panel underlay that featured impressive embroidered floral appliqués.
"The rejuvenation of life and colour inspired the fresh palette of sunshine yellow, powder blue, eggplant, tropical green and blush with hints of black, white, washed grey and silver." The pair explain, and in line with their Cruise 14/15 collection, continued to contrast a minimalist sensibility against bold print.
There is also a sporty element to the collection, in the relaxed silhouettes and unique fabrics...

As for the other 'new' elements? "This season there are interesting fabrications that we haven't used before. The white oversized sponge mesh and lambskin leather that we used for the bomber, panel dress and pencil skirt, gives a modern and sporty feel to the pieces. For eveningwear we experimented with volume and movement, evident in the trapeze gowns."
"Overall, the collection is sportier than previous seasons with lots of oversized silhouettes as well." They share, before crediting the, "incredibly talented people behind the scenes", for making a stressful lead up to show day itself a smooth process. And the results certainly work for us.
