Sneak peek: Paris Fashion Week set to host Middle Eastern designers
Recognising regional talent
Paris is fast becoming the city of choice for Middle Eastern designers looking to exhibit their seasonal collections. Also at the forefront of the consumer circle are regionally-run showrooms, who are looking to gain commercial cred and editorial edge for their portfolio of brands. Enter Maison Pyramide — an Egptyian-born concept who for the second season running will host a dedicated space designed to introduce emerging designers (both regional and international) on to an international platform. Expect to see collections from Middle Eastern brands Ammanii, Comun, Maram (Egypt), Nafsika Skourti (Jordan), Reemami (UAE), Nour Hammour (Paris) and Okhtein (Egypt), as well as international brands Deborah Lyons (UK), Izaak Azanei (UK), Masha Reva (UK), Robert Wun (UK) and Reine (Italy).
Maison Pyramide's The Showroom will be active during Paris Fashion Week, from September 28 until October 4, but first discover the designers' digital debut (above) in the short titled The Fashion Film — a sneak peek inside the designs set to debut this season in The Showroom. Here you'll discover an achingly cool balance of colours and Andy Warhol-esque pop art elements at the fore of the Egyptian-based video, created in collaboration with JVH Lab Showroom.
The must-see video was brought to life through the vision of Tamara Scandar, Project Manager and Curator; Mahmoud Attallah, Director; Karim Sherif, Art Director; Salma Khattab, Assistant Director; Ahmed Sorour, Stylist; Mariam Ayman, Make-up artist; Abdelrahman Latif and Ali Heriaz, Cameramen; Moustafa Mahmoud, Assistant Cameraman; Abdullah Youssef, Production and Moataz El Qammari for Sound Design.
