Pantone releases two tones as colour of the year
Rose Quartz and Serenity
The highly anticipated reveal for the 2016 Colour of the Year has been announced by Pantone and this year they unveiled two shades for the first time ever: Rose Quartz and Serenity. The colour forecast company, who sets the tone for the fashion, beauty and homewares industries, have decided on two dual jewel shades as the front runners of the annual prediction palatte.
For a softer take on colour for next year, Rose Quartz is described as a "persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure", while Pantone said, "Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times."
Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute said: "Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace."
Last year the coveted colour was a brownish-red shade aptly named Marsala, and in 2014 it was Orchid; a radiant mixture of purple and pink.
