Max Mara revisits traditional cuts for Pre-Fall '18 for a covet-worthy collection. Here's why we're obsessed...

Max Mara is synonymous with cool, chic outerwear that is essential to any modern woman's autumnal wardrobe.

In 1981, the Italian fashion house released what is now known as the brand's most iconic silhouette: the 101801 coat. With its impeccable tailoring, Japenese influences and double-breasted oversized cut, Max Mara has shifted its Pre-Fall '18 focus onto the 101801 and reworked it with new elements.

Previously seen in several collections including the recent Spring/Summer '18 runway show — which saw hijabi model Halima Aden and Bella Hadid take to the catwalk — the classic coat has now been transformed into a trapeze coat, lean belted styles and a peacoat.

Completed in the brand's signature colour palette — navy, camel and ivory — the Pre-Fall '18 collection continues to carry utilitarian cuts that blend masculinity with femininity. Simplicity and sophistication are also echoed through minimalist designs on sweaters, jumpsuits and outerwear, whilst a fun-yet-playful aesthetic is translated through ruffled details, logo tees and voluminous maxis.
