Everything you need to know about the Met Gala 2014
Mastering the prestigious fashion event...
Anna Wintour's annual Met Gala held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan is a ball of huge proportions – with each year bringing a fashionable new dress code with it.
This year, the event celebrates the undeniable glamour of post war couturier Charles James...
The theme is deemed an ultra glamorous nod to the history of American couture, going hand in hand with an exhibition also celebrating the work of the late designer. That means expect fairy tale ball gowns for the females, and 'white tie and decoration' for the men, who will arrive to watch Frank Ocean perform on stage.

Anna Wintour arrives to last year's event
Celebrities in attendance are to include current fashion industry darling Lupita Nyong'o supporting Prada, Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy, Taylor Swift wearing J. Mendel and Zoe Saldana dressed in Prabal Gurung. Lanvin is said to be dressing a 'mystery celebrity' to attend with Creative Director Alber Elbaz.
Sarah Jessica Parker – who is actually co-chairing the event alongside Wintour, Bradley Cooper and Oscar de la Renta – has yet to confirm her designer of choice, but likely to make an impact in de la Renta; she is always one to watch out for, and usually featured on the evening's best dressed lists. Lily Allen has mentioned via Twitter and Instagram that she will also be present, although her designer partnership being kept quite too, for now – we suspect (and hope) it will be a collaboration with Chanel, a label with which she is often affiliated.
Gwyneth Paltrow has politely declined the invitation this year, following negative comments she made to the press after last year's Vivienne Westwood 'punk' themed extravaganza, saying it was "too hot, busy and not fun."
Kim Kardashian is set to make her second Met Gala appearance, after previously (and infamously) arriving whilst heavily pregnant wearing floral Givenchy on the arm of Kanye West, who then performed at the 2013 event. However this year, in light of her recent Vogue covergirl status, we expect to see a stylish point being made in Balmain thanks to a newfound friendship with Olivier Rousteing – also rumoured to have created her upcoming wedding dress for the looming Kardashian-West nuptials.
In an exciting twist, Michelle Obama will be opening the newly named Anna Wintour Costume Center (previously known as the Costume Institute) this morning prior to the gala, however it is yet to be confirmed whether the First Lady will actually be at the ball... Sure to be a sartorial highlight, if so. In whatever way events unfold, Buro 24/7 will be breaking the news tomorrow morning.
