A new sleepwear line for night and day
Australian label Masini & Chern
Masini & Chern co-founding directors and good friends, Ebonnie and Tash, met over fifteen years ago at high school. The duo both studied at Melbourne’s RMIT University – Ebonnie studied Fashion Design and Tash, Interior Design and Decoration. Since studying, Ebonnie has been working as a fashion buyer between Dubai and London, most recently for the world’s largest shoe store, Level Shoe District. Tash worked as an interior designer and lived in New Zealand before joining the world of advertising at Clemenger BBDO in Melbourne.
A little over two and a half years ago, Ebonnie and Tash decided to collaborate on a contemporary sleepwear line. Realising that some people want to slip on pyjamas and feel sophisticated and stylish, not just cute or sexy – they have together created a range of pyjamas that would look just as chic between the sheets or on the streets.
Masini & Chern launched its online store last week, prior to this they built a following via a beautiful instagram handle @MasiniandChern.
Banana leaves, diamonds, stripes, zig zags and pineapples are the signature prints to feature in the first collection – summer sets with sleeveless shirts and shorts, winter with full length sleeves – traditional style pyjamas. The range is available for both men and women with an additional option for custom embriodery.
The label's first campaign features a white backdrop and minimalist props such as wooden chairs, coffee cups and plants. With a limited budget of $300 ($50 of which was spent on takeaway pizza) the look book was shot by a friend and styled by the girls themselves.
Their motto: “Sleep chic, wake sweet.” Our motto: "Wear Masini & Chern day and night."
