First look: Marchesa Pre-Fall 2015

Byzantine bliss

Inspired by Byzantine art and Fabergé eggs, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa unveiled a beautiful collection of layered gowns, embroidered mini dresses and all-over luxe appeal

"We wanted it to be rich and luxe," said designer Georgina Chapman of the British label's pre-fall collection, where the duo brought back the spirit of old opulence.

With a strong forte in eveningwear, feminine gowns in particular, Marchesa's infused the gold detailing seen on Byzantine art and Fabergé eggs onto a black off-the-shoulder cocktail dress, while crimson tulle was used for a larger than life effect on an elegant layered gown, deemed fit for a queen.

Furthermore, lavish decorations were seen on every piece, from lace detailing at the edges of hems to billowing sleeves covered in silver embroidery.
