First look: Oscar de la Renta's Pre-Fall '18 collection
Where skyscrapers meet the seaside
Since taking over the reigns at Oscar de la Renta in 2016, followed by a stand-out Fall/Winter '17 debut, Oscar de la Renta's Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim have reimagined the brand's feminine codes to create their own signature silhouettes that have proven to be head-turners.
Before gearing up for the big Fall/Winter '18 reveal during New York Fashion Week — which will be extending thanks to CFDA's move to include men's — the Co-Creative Directors staged a Pre-Fall '18 presentation at the Picnic House at Pier 40, New York.
While the seaside location played a role in the creative process behind the new range, there were still some key pieces that carried an injection of the late designer's key elements such as dramatic cuffs, voluminous skirts, embellished eveningwear and sequins.
The creative heads, who also have their own brand Monse, updated Oscar de la Renta's stunning simplicity for the new season by adding printed seagulls, a school of fish, stripes and leather appliqués to cuts of outerwear and dresses that will pack perfectly for summertime by the shoreline.
