Cannes x Christian Dior: The making of
A dress for Liu Yifei
This Cannes Film Festival has been a display of the most noteworthy haute couture on record. From short and stylish handbeaded works of art to painstakingly embroided ensembles, the dresses this year have been a highlight for both the film and fashion industries. None more so than the custom made Dior dress for Chinese actress Liu Yifiei.
Yifiei, who is the ambassador of Dior Prestige skincare in China, walked the red carpet in the coveted Dior creation at the premiere of Cafe Society, which stars Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively Steve Carell and Jesse Eisenberg. The dress, which started its days at the maison's atelier in Paris was, "then taken to China to be tried on by Liu Yifei," confirmed the house of Dior. "This moment, taking place on the other side of the globe, marks the first meeting between actress and dress. The star then gives her impressions, her measurements are carefully noted to ensure that the fabric molds her figure flawlessly, and the dress makes its way back to Paris where it will be used as the model for the real dress the actress will wear on the red carpet."
