Behind the scenes of Chanel's 'Reincarnation' film
Starring Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams
After premiering in Salzburg, ahead yesterday's beautiful Chanel Métiers d'Art Salzburg-Paris show, the Karl Lagerfeld-directed Reincarnation is inspired by the history of an iconic Chanel jacket, with the famed brand now unveiling some behind the scenes footage.
"This whole set is so incredible," expressed Cara Delevingne who stood on the hotel lobby set, featuring Franz Xaver Winterhalter's famous imperial portraits and antler furniture, "It's like you're in Austria," she said.
In the film, Cara Delevingne co-stars with Pharrell Williams and Geraldine Chaplin, where you see Delevingne transformed into an Austrian Empress and Chaplin as Coco Chanel.
According to Mr. Lagerfeld, "there was no second choice" for the casting of his film that traces "the roots of where the Chanel jacket came from, inspired by the lift-boy in a hotel near Salzburg in the early 1950s".
The new four-minute clip shows us how Delevingne and Pharrell Williams – who alternates between Emperor Franz Josef I and the lift-boy – learnt the waltz, and how many crew members and rehearsals it took to make the video, as well as some words from the actors themselves.
