All of the 'OMG' moments from the Met Gala 2021
Here's what you might've missed...
Just days following their internet-breaking appearance at the Venice Film Festival, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are back in the spotlight whilst attending their first Met Gala together. The couple – who wore outfits from the same designer, Ralph Lauren – were not shy to show their affection for one another packing on PDA at the Met Gala 2021.
Considered one of the best-dressed of the evening, Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X ruled the red carpet in a Versace emsemble – which then led to a series of costume changes. And we are SO here for it. The artist first rocked a giant embroidered regal cloak, which revealed a gold armour-type outfit and then a gold formfitting bodysuit.
Known for making a statement on any red carpet, Kim Kardashian chose to go undercover at the Met Gala, attending the high-profile event in an all-black head-to-toe Balenciaga ensemble. Making her nearly unrecognisable, she donned a full-length strecthy bodysuit by Demna Gvasalia but managed to pull off a full glam look featuring a 75-inch floor-length ponytail.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made her first-ever Met Gala appearance and for the occasion, she donned a statement-making dress that resulted in mixed reactions on social media. The white dress by Brother Vellies featured the words 'Tax the Rich' splashed across the back in red. Many viewers thought it was "hypocritical" of AOC to be wearing the message to an exclusive event for Hollywood's biggest and richest stars. What are your thoughts?
Billie Eilish turned heads on the red carpet as she swapped her signature baggy style for an off-shoulder peach tulle gown by Oscar de la Renta. The star chose to front the brand at the Met Gala after announcing that it will stop using fur. "Thank you Oscar de la Renta for designing this BEAUTIFUL dress and bringing my ideas and vision to life," says the singer. "I'm honoured to have been a catalyst and to have been heard on this matter. I urge all designers to do the same."
The couple have officially made their first red carpet appearance at the Met Gala, stealing the show as they arrived together. Rihanna opted for a sculptural coat dress by Balenciaga and earrings by Maria Tash whilst A$AP Rocky chose to wrap himself in a multicoloured quilted blanket look by ERL.
