Your favourite handbag designer Gabriela Hearst is launching an exclusive bag on Net-a-Porter tomorrow
You might want to set an alarm...
Handbags have long been a can't-live-without accessory for women and increasingly, they've become the focal point of an entire outfit. Structural creations, PVC totes, belted varieties and beyond have taken on whole new levels of sartorial importance in recent seasons, and if you're looking for your next It bag, you can stop because its landing tomorrow courtesy of Gabriela Hearst.
Since launching her eponymous label three years ago, Hearst has become the go-to for fashion editors and influencers alike during Fashion Week and beyond for cool arm candy (that's regularly got a wait list). Now, the designer is set to release a brand new handbag on Net-a-Porter for the first time tomorrow. The 'Patsy' is a mini lunchbox style bag that is "inspired by women who entered the work force from the period of the Victorian coal miners to WWII," according to a release.
Speaking of the design, Gabriela explains, "It was designed for the F/W '18 collection. The Patsy's shape is reminIscent of traditional American lunch boxes from the 1940s. During WWII (1940-1945) the female work force in the US increased from 27 per cent to nearly 37 per cent. By 1945, nearly one out of every four married women worked outside the home. This is why the Patsy is dear to me, it's a reminder of what our gender has accomplished but also how much more is left to do in order to achieve equality for all."
The bag is finished with rose gold hardware and will be available in a range of colours, including timeless black and colour-of-the-moment white.
In addition to the new style, Net-a-Porter will also have two of the brand's signature bags, the Nina and Diana, on sale for a two week period.
