Prada's Nylon handbag is officially going green...
Prada is currently on a mission to use recycled nylon by 2021...

Just last month, Prada officially made the announcement that it will be going fur-free, starting with its Spring/Summer 2020 collections. Now, the Italian luxury fashion house are taking a step further towards sustainability, and will reimagine one of its iconic materials in a greener way.

Prada and nylon are two terms that constantly been linked to each other in the industry and now, its signature fabric will be made entirely of recycled materials. Plus, there will be an entire collection, titled Re-Nylon, alongside the new sustainable approach.

Highlighting the brand’s continuous efforts towards an environment-focused initiative, the new collection will consist of six classic bags (which will also include the belt bag, shoulder bag and two backpacks), each crafted with recycled nylon — made from plastics found in the ocean, fishing nets and textile fibre waste turned into Econyl.

In case you aren’t too familiar with what Econyl is, it’s a type of yarn created by recovering ocean plastics and scraps — eventually turning it into a quality nylon yarn with the help of Aquafil.

This is the right step for the Italian brand as they pledge to forgo the use of the nylon fabric completely, and will only use recycled nylon by 2021 (hoorah!).
