Comme des Garçons unveil an artistic collaboration with Aurélie Mathigot
Comme des Garçons have revealed a new artistic collaboration with Parisian artist Aurélie Mathigot for a new range of embroidered leather wallets, purses and pouches. The wallets are composed of 100% cow hide and feature bright animated images and part embroidery embellishment, the calling card of the rising artist.
“I am hoping to expand my working platform to make room for more undefined, playful, self interpretive works.” Aurélie Mathigot has said on her website about her plans looking forward...
Weaving her bold and colourful style onto the cow hide accessories, Mathigot is best known for her unusual sculptural and textural creations. With a busy year exhibiting in and around Paris she has gained a dedicated following, and has clearly gathered Comme de Garçons among her expanding admirers.
The Tokyo-born design house Comme des Garçons has always identified as Parisian just as much, if not more than with its Japanese roots and the collaboration with Mathigot has bound the label yet closer to the creative fibre of Paris.
