A new name in fashion: Fleming London
She's bringing backpacks back
The concept of Fleming London was conceived early last year by young designer Sophie Fleming – and her desire to create a leather backpack that is both chic and practical all at once.
A style that has long possessed the utilitarian values for students, cyclists and the armed forces, Fleming London hopes to place the backpack firmly back on the fashion map, with production of the line being handmade in England and demonstrating the fine quality and craftsmanship associated with British manufacturing – albeit using fine Italian leather in an edit of block colours.
Fleming studied history at university before pursuing a more creative career, and whilst working within the head office of the high-end British label, Jaeger, she founded Fleming London from a personal need for a beautiful backpack. She has subsequently targeted her designs at young professionals looking for a bag in the same vein, in vain.
With one signature style released, Fleming London is in the process of developing a selection of petite styles and planning deals with key boutiques to be stocked in store. The year of 2014 looks set to be an exciting one for the brand – and in the meantime, the small collection is available to buy online.
