Paris Fashion Week: Sophia Webster Autumn/Winter 14
Welcome to 'The Heartbreak Hotel'
Directly inspired by 'lifestyles of the rich and famous', British shoe designer Sophia Webster invites fans to join to her version of 'The Heartbreak Hotel', a fantasy world of modern fairytale princesses and Beverly Hills brats, presented at a live tableaux at Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 14.
Drawing inspiration from her family's heritage and directly from her own childhood, Webster uses symbolic motifs such as large crystal rock stones, comic-strip speech bubbles that say words such as 'sweet' and 'talk' – and the results are straight up modern with a pop culture twist, and full of girly excess.
Having only launched her namesake line in 2013 after working her way up as Nicholas Kirkwood's protégée, this year sees a move on in style thanks to the introduction of a sportswear element. Rubber soles and treads are combined with clear vinyl, laser cutting and weaving is more detailed and those now-famous signature speech bubble bags have evolved into thought bubbles.
