Celebrating Chinese myths and legends, Montblanc has unveiled new pens that perfectly highlight their significance in the Eastern culture.

Montblanc has unveiled two new writing instruments that celebrate the Chinese culture of signs and symbols. The Rooster Limited Edition 512 is the second of the maison's 'Legend of Zodiacs' collection, while the Water Dragon Limited Edition 88 — limited to only 88 pieces — is part of the 'A Journey Among Dragons' line.

Montblanc Signs & Symbols

In anticipation of the year of the rooster in 2017, Montblanc's new limited edition writing instrument takes over the spotlight from the monkey-inspired pen. The stunning engravings on the cap highlight the main characteristics of the rooster while the same design was also etched onto the nib. The barrel, coated in black lacquer, alludes to the colour's honourable status in ancient East Asian culture. Similarly, the Water Dragon Limited Edition 88 has the symbol of the water dragon engraved onto the cap with the solid champagne gold nib boasting of a symbol that signifies the second son of the dragon. Red was chosen as the colour of the barrel due to the colour's traditional representation of good luck.
