As the refugee crisis continues to spiral out of control, celebrity humanitarians are showing that they have not been forgotten. Buro 24/7 Middle East has the details...

Celebrity power couple George and Amal Clooney recently spoke to Syrian refugees who now reside in Berlin. In a video released by the International Rescue Committee, Clooney expressed his disbelief at how the situation has been allowed to reach this stage, saying, "What is shocking to me is not that it happened but that it continues to happen and it's been happening for five years."

Together, with a group of survivors, Clooney and Amal share their own family's immigration experiences. "My own family is from Lebanon and they also ran away from a war," recounts Amal. "They were lucky enough to be accepted by a European country in 1982. Many years later, everybody's doing well and my father has returned to Beirut. I hope that, as you say, you will be able to go back to a safe and free Syria."

Amal Clooney is now continuing her journey to the Middle East this week. The lawyer is set to give a speech at the International Government Communication Forum in Sharjah, which runs from March 20-21, 2016.
