Taschen to open new gallery in Los Angeles
Move over books!
Opening December 13, the new gallery will launch with its first exhibition – a curation of images of the Rolling Stones culled from the recent Taschen book, simply titled The Rolling Stones. The 500+ page tome was recently released by Taschen, who worked in collaboration with the iconic rock n' roll band and features a foreword by former President Bill Clinton.
The exhibition will showcase a plethora of photographs taken by the legendary David Bailey, who was the inspiration behind the 1966 movie Blow Up:
"He's one of the great 20th century photographers," said Taschen Books founder Benedikt Taschen. "His portraits of the Stones are really outstanding."
Taschen Books, who already own and operate 11 book stores – have announced that its new gallery, situated in the old Design Within Reach space at 8070 Beverly Blvd, has been leased for two years. The exhibition that will follow the Rolling Stones showcase is still in formation.
