Scarlett Johansson announces a new band with a member of Haim
With a handful of musical collaborations already under her belt, including a contribution to the Serge Gainsbourg tribute album, an LP of Tom Waits covers, and a collaboration with Pete Yorn and Massive Attack – Scarlett Johansson has gone one step further and announced that she has formed a new band.
Alongside Haim member, Este Haim, Johansson is relaunching her music career with a new group called The Singles. Holly Miranda, Julia Haltigan, and Kendra Morris also join Haim and Johansson in the new girl group.
Citing Grimes, the Bangles and the Go-Go's as influences, Johansson said: "The idea was to write super-pop dance music written and performed by girls," adding: "I wanted it to be like those bands: ultra-pop but also a little ironic, a little in on the joke."
