Saeed Khalifa's first solo show in Spain to open this month
On December 10 2014
Making his way into European territory, Saeed Khalifa's Beasts will be taking over the walls at the Sabrina Amrani gallery in Spain this month, merging the concepts of aesthetics and politics, creating visual poetry for the soul.
In his first European solo show, the Emirati artist explores the boundaries between the aesthetic view and a political posture, staying confined to neither, and suggesting the possibility of a discourse beyond the horizon of the event.
Khalifa combines impeccable photography with bold theatricality and touching performative elements, drawing less on art history than on the boundless sensuality of the world, presenting art pieces that touch on the process of prayer in Islam to the religious metaphor of martyrdom in different traditions.
Beasts is a reflection about a world in transition, where the bare human of bio-politics and bio-power is a chain of chemical reactions and instinctual reflexes.
Beasts will be running from December 10 – January 17 in Madrid Spain at the Sabrina Amrani gallery
