Pharrell partners with UN to celebrate 'International Day of Happiness'
Still enjoying the global success of his recent hit Happy and a chart-topping new album GIRL, Pharrell Williams is now partnering with the United Nations Foundation to celebrate the annual 'International Day of Happiness' on March 20.
According to the UN's resolution, the unique day acknowledges that "the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal" and states that "the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of all peoples."
Starting on Monday March 10, fans are encouraged to post YouTube videos of themselves dancing to Pharrell's catchy track Happy with the hashtag #HAPPYDAY, which they will then submit to Pharrell's new website 24 Hours of Happiness. The musician will then pick the best submissions at noon from each time zone of the world, on March 20.
In addition to this, Pharrell is also encouraging fans to make donations to the Central Emergency Response Fund, a fund created to support aid operations for people effected by natural disasters and armed conflicts.
