An in-depth journey into the rapper's childhood and musical influences

This October, Nas will internationally debut his documentary film 'Time Is Illmatic', which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival back in April

Written by Erik Parker and produced by One9 and Anthony Saleh, the inspiring film follows the trajectory of Nas' 1994 debut album Illmatic, a piece of music history which was considered one of the most important and revolutionary albums in hip-hop.

Time is Illmatic looks back at Nas' musical influences and the massive odds he faced in creating some of the greatest pieces of music from hip-hops second golden era.

In addition to showing unearthed archival footage of Nas from the Illmatic era as well as showing how Queens and hip-hop was in the early-Nineties, the documentary film also features interviews with musicians that Nas inspired and his album producers, from Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S., and DJ Premier to Pharrell Williams, Busta Rhymes and Swizz Beatz.
