James Franco defends Shia LaBeouf's recent escapades
Why actors act out
James Franco has written an op-ed piece, Why Actors Act Out, on Shia LaBeouf's recent erratic behaviour. This includes LaBeouf wearing a paper bag over his head — with the words 'I am not famous anymore' — at the premier of the new Lars Von Trier film he stars in.
Franco, who has also had his fair share of rebellious moments, defends the actor's actions saying, "This behaviour could be a sign of many things, from a nervous breakdown to mere youthful recklessness," Franco adds, "For Mr. LaBeouf's sake I hope it is nothing serious. Indeed I hope - and, yes, I know that this idea has pretentious or just plain ridiculous overtones - that his actions are intended as a piece of performance art, one in which a young man in a very public profession tries to reclaim his public persona."
