Sheikh Mohammed announces 'Innovation Week' for the UAE
“Governments that do not innovate risk losing their competitiveness”
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced a new event for the United Arab Emirates – UAE Innovation Week – to be held November 22 – 28.
In his announcement, the pioneering Ruler of Dubai urged those from the government, private and academic sectors all to participate in the week, and submit entries. As well as calling upon the public to take to social media to suggest activities for the week.
"We dedicate November 22-28 as National Innovation Week, during which UAE institutions will showcase their innovations" – sheikh mohammed
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said: "Innovation is not an option but a necessity. It is not a culture but work style, and governments and companies that do not innovate risk losing their competitiveness and falling far behind." Adding: "We have multiplied our investments in innovation, especially in terms of equipping and training our national cadres because keeping pace with the rapid changes taking place in the world needs innovative cadres and an environment that supports innovation."
So what does the week have in store? We can expect to see the announcements of various government initiatives as well as events and activities by the government, the private sector and academic entities.
