Here’s one for the gram, as Dubai opens first ever selfie museum
Ready for your perfect photograph?
The self-taken cameraphone photo has become one of the cultural markers of our time; there's the high angle photo awkwardly featuring the taker's arm, the shameless bathroom mirror self-portrait, and the most popular selfie, a Kim-Kardashian-style pose, complete with smouldering eyes and pouting lips. Yes, we've all been there, snapped it and shared it on the gram.
And now Dubai is giving photo/selfie enthusiasts of all ages the perfect space to pursue some more insta-worthy snaps with The Selfie Kingdom, an interactive space created for the sole purpose of promoting digital content through creativity, art, and design.
Located close to the Expo 2020 site, the made-for-Instagram museum features 15 pop-up rooms with unique themes and backgrounds, that offer just the right lighting, the right backdrops, and the right amount of whimsy for the ultimate photo-worthy experience. The rooms, which will be remodelled every couple of months to provide a new and exciting immersive photo-friendly set up, will also feature various exhibits and installations from artists, designers and innovators.
TKS also provides a creative co-working space as well as a venue to host private parties/events. There's even an option to hire a professional photographer to take those extra-special photos to help you remember the day that you went to the first selfie museum in the world.
The Selfie Kingdom is open from Sunday to Saturday from 11am to 8pm and tickets can be purchased online.
