Dubai to host Van Gogh Museum Relievo exhibition and Willem van Gogh talk
Masterful masterpiece replicas
The Van Gogh Museum Relievo exhibition is coming to Dubai at the end of February, for an event hosted at Fairmont, The Palm. Dubai has been selected as the venue for the regional launch of the newly created exhibition of Van Gogh Museum accredited replica masterpieces, which has already enjoy success in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. The hosts of the event will be the museum's director Axel Rüger and Willem van Gogh, the great grandnephew of Vincent van Gogh himself, who will also be speaking at the event.
The exhibition will display the limited-edition collection of a new generation of replicas. The replicas are of some of the worlds most recognisable works of art by the Dutch master, including; Sunflowers, Almond Blossom and The Bedroom, recreated in three-dimensions to near perfection in texture, brightness and size.
They have been created by the museum itself with a unique technology that involves a laser scan that captures the rich surface texture of Van Gogh's original work, and then enables a reproduction to be made with precision that comes as close as a nano-millimetre.
The museum has limited this intricate and accurate reproductive ability to only 260 reproductions of each piece, so prospective buyers who wish to own one can still prepare to part with a pretty-penny for the privilege of owning such a masterpiece.
The Van Gogh Museum Relievo exhibition will take place on February 25 at Fairmont, The Palm, Dubai
