A century of fashion photography at Condé Nast at the Palais Galliera
The best of Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and others
The exhibition Coming into fashion, a century of fashion photography at Condé Nast draws on the archives of Condé Nast's global libraries, bringing together some 150 mostly original prints from the most pioneering fashion photographers from 1918 - 2014.
Condé Nast employed their very first photographer in Baron Adolf de Meyer, who was then followed by Edward Steichen, George Hoyningen-Huene, Horst P. Horst, Cecil Beaton, Erwin Blumenfeld and Irving Penn. From 1950s onwards, Guy Bourdin, William Klein, David Bailey, Helmut Newton, Bruce Weber, Peter Lindbergh, Steven Meisel, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, and Miles Aldridge. All now iconic names in fashion photography and cultural icons.
The new exhibition provides an opportunity to explore the work of over 90 iconic photographers. Organised by theme, it highlights the ties between these photographers who, from one glossy page to the next, have shaped the identity and history of Condé Nast at the fashion industry at large.
Coming into fashion, a century of fashion photography at Condé Nast opens at the Palais Galliera in Paris on March 1 - May 2015. Further details can be found here.
