Christie's announce first public appearance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
For the Saudi Jewellery Salon
Christie's is making its first public appearance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this month by participating in the Saudi Jewellery Salon in Jeddah from April 20-23 and Riyadh from April 27-30. The Christie's specialist team has curated a unique exhibition of the best jewellery and watches available on the market especially for this inaugural appearance in Saudi, which it is hoped may turn into a many repeat appearances.
Whilst the auction house may not have conducted any full scale public auctions in the Kingdom, it certainly has a long history of dealing with the rich cultural history of the country and its selected collectors. This relationship has developed much to the credit of the Christie's Middle East base in Dubai, established ten years ago, which notably presents the annual modern and contemporary art auctions from the region as well as the important watches auctions, which has seen specially curated art works from Saudi Arabai enter auctions since 2009 including works from Reem Al-Faisal, Ayman Yossri Daydban and Ahmed Mater Al-Ziad Aseeri to name a few.
Highlights from this month's Saudi Jewellery Salon include; a stunning pair of Harry Winston emerald and diamond ear pendants and a coloured diamond necklace centred upon a cushion shaped fancy deep brownish-greenish-yellow diamond, set with vari-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 149.94 karats.
