There are plans aplenty in the UAE's capital to mark Chinese New Year

Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi's latest world-class district at the heart of the capital of the UAE, is attracting visitors from the Gulf and beyond for a series of celebrations to mark Chinese New Year.

Scheduled to take place between this Thursday and Saturday with activities such as live musical performances, art exhibitions, traditional crafts and authentic Chinese delicacy food stands, the luxury destination will host Chinese calligraphy workshop, kite painting lessons, a horse whisperer photo exhibition, and portrait painters, all set amongst a landscape of thousands of decorative Chinese lanterns.

The Galleria will also feature traditional Chinese musical performances in its Great Room on Friday, plus a live dragon show on the promenade followed by fireworks.

To commemorate the Lunar Year of the Horse, Rosewood Abu Dhabi will treat guests to a red envelope and chocolates wrapped in gold foil in each room, a Chinese tradition believed to bestow luck, health and prosperity on the receiver. Furthermore, Glo, its glamorous open-air lounge, will host a chic Chinese New Year's eve party on both Thursday and Friday.

"Al Maryah Island is a visionary mixed-use district which offers first-class retail, hotel, residential, leisure and commercial amenities alluring to both Abu Dhabi residents and guests from abroad. In the past year, we welcomed a significant number of Chinese visitors, reflecting the increasing number of tourists from China choosing to travel to the capital and select Al Maryah Island as their lifestyle destination of choice." Says Ali Eid AlMheiri, Executive Director of Mubadala Real Estate & Infrastructure, on behalf of Al Maryah Island.

Chinese New Year celebrations at Al Maryah Island take place from January 30–February 1
