Carolina Herrera sponsors Frida Kahlo art show at New York Botanical Garden
'Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden & Life'
Carolina Herrera is sponsoring the gallery that will showcase 14 of Frida Kahlo's paintings and works on paper, as part of, Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden & Life, at the New York Botanical Garden. The exhibition runs through November 1, and the paper designs focus on the botanical images that are featured in Kahlo's work.
Herrera's admiration and appreciation of the Mexican artists is very much an on going thing. Herrera herself incorporates many floral and botanical themes in her designs, and has always found Kahlo's work to be an inspiration and an influence in that regard. Kahlo, who is best known for her self portraits, was frequently depicted with botanical backgrounds and vibrant flowers in her hair.
Herrera will continue the Frida Kahlo theme as she signs on as the sponsor of the New York Botanical Garden's Conservatory Ball, which is to be held on June 4.
Herrera said, "Frida Kahlo has been a source of inspiration for me; her vibrant use of colour, sense of proportion and her whimsical style all her own. It is fantastic to welcome her exquisite paintings to the Botanical Garden."
