
Contenders for the 2014 BAFTA's revealed
The awards season begins
The wildly anticipated British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards nominees were revealed yesterday morning and the choices, as you will see, are not unexpected as the front runners were an obvious selection.
In the category 'Best Picture' is '12 Years of Slavery', 'Captain Phillips', 'Gravity' and 'Philomena'. The award for Best British film are 'Gravity', 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom', 'Philomena', 'Race', 'Saving Mr. Banks' and 'Selfish Giant.'
Those in the running for 'Best Director' are Alfonso Cuaron, Paul Greengrass, Steve McQueen, David O. Russell and Martin Scorsese, 'Best Actor' - Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tom Hanks, 'Best Actress' - Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Dame Judi Dench and Emma Thompson. Additionally, in the category of 'Rising Star' the winner is determined solely by audience vote, the contenders include George McKay, Lea Seydoux, Lupita Nyong'o and Will Poulter.
