Over 60 million AED has been donated by organisations and individuals on the second day of the UAE Water Aid Project (UAE Suqia). This donation will help provide clean drinking water to 2.4 million people living in areas with scarce sources of clean water

The project, which aims to provide clean drinking water to five million people in 60 countries, was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai last week, with an announcement on Twitter

On Saturday, the campaign had raised Dh33.5 million, an amount enough to provide clean water for more than 1.3 million people, raising to almost double by the end of the day yesterday.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the project to end the suffering of millions of people who die every year due to a lack in supply of clean water, aiming to provide clean drinking water to 1.07 million people who live in areas with limited sources of clean water.

Residents across the UAE received an SMS yesterday from UAE Water Aid inviting them to contribute by replying with word 'Water'. Texting 'Water' to 8025 donates AED25 and saves 1 life, 8075 AED75 saving 3 lives, 8150 AED150 saving 6 lives, 8250 AED250 saving 10 lives and 8500 AED500 saving 20 lives.
