YouTube plans to launch music subscription service

According to its CEO

Music subscription packages accounted for 27% of the music industry's entire revenue in 2013, and YouTube is getting involved
  • As the music subscription industry only continues to grow and expand, it has been announced that YouTube plans to join the market the action and is currently working on its own music service.

  • YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has said that her team was "working on it" when speaking in an interview at Code/Mobile, and that the service is a realistic move in the future for the company. It seems that YouTube's main issue at present is "how to give people options" and arranging a pricing structure. Other rumours suggest that the service will differentiate itself from existing companies by offering concert footage and other videos as well as music streams.
