Rita Ora files lawsuit against Jay Z’s Roc Nation
Seeking a split
Rita Ora, the Albanian born singer filed a law suit last Thursday against rapper Jay Z's record label, Roc Nation. Citing that the rapper had "orphaned" her and maintained a lack of interest in the artist.
The lawsuit describes that the entertainment label is a "diminished" record label with "only a handful of admittedly worthy heritage superstar artists" after the they diversified into sports management, with a move away from music. The complaint states: "When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist. As Roc Nation's interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. Rita's remaining supporters at the label left or moved on to other activities, to the point where she no longer had a relationship with anyone at the company." Rita was one of the first to sign back in 2008 when Jay Z first founded the label along with several other artists including J.Cole, Kanye West and Rihanna.
Rita Ora has not debuted an album since 2012.
