The 2016 Super Bowl with Beyonce, Coldplay and Bruno Mars
Beyonce announces world tour
The Superbowl halftime show has become an anticipated musical event in its own right and this year's show delivered, with performances from three of the world's biggest acts: Beyonce, Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
Headline act Coldplay started the show with their "Viva La Vida" track before segueing into "Paradise" and later "Adventure of a Lifetime", from their latest album A Head Full of Dreams.
After the British band's three-song set, the spotlight fell on Bruno Mars serving up his smash hit "Uptown Funk" with music producer Mark Ronson who was dressed in Saint Laurent's Bang blouson teddy.
It was then Queen Bey's turn to mesmerise the crowd with her new song "Formation", which she dropped a day earlier. Her energetic performance, complete with backup dancers, ended with a mini dance-off with Mars. The halftime show ended with Coldplay performing "Fix You", accompanied by both Beyonce and Mars.
Off the field, the Superbowl showcased a series of much-talked-about TV commercials, which included Audi and Mini. Audi showcased their stunning R8, to the soundtrack "Starman" by the recently departed David Bowie. Mini, however, gathered high-profile individuals including tennis champion Serena Williams, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and actor Harvey Keitel amongst others, to Defy Labels and break the misconception of the Mini. Beyonce also took advantage of the Superbowl ad space to announce her upcoming Formation World Tour via a commercial. Tickets go on sale February 9, 2016.
