Lorde to curate ‘Hunger Games’ soundtrack
Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I
With the film hitting cinemas this coming November, Lorde will curate the soundtrack - completely handpicking the artists that will feature as well as submitting her own bespoke work, it has been announced.
Lorde's BFF Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars wrote the lead single Safe and Sound for the first Hunger Games film - which went on to top the Billboard 200 chart and win a Grammy for the best song written for visual media. The soundtrack also featured Lorde's song Everybody Wants To Rule The World.
Now Lorde is returning to run the musical creatives: "I sat down with Lorde on the set of Mockingjay this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film," the Mockingjay director Francis Lawrence said in a statement. "Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay's characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film's essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable."
