Katy Perry's new music video is out and it shares a social message under its bubble gum façade.

Katy Perry has released her new video for "Chained to the Rhythm", a song that first debuted during the 2017 Grammy Awards. While the video might seem a typical over-the-top Katy Perry production similar to "California Gurls", a closer look suggests a hidden social message that is cemented even further by the lyrics.

Underneath the cheery backdrop, the 4-minute clip cleverly draws parallels between the current state of the world and a utopian theme park, putting the spotlight on several issues including a tunnel vision caused by our mobile devices, the endless queue to get on a hamster wheel and the accepted behaviour at a social gathering, as Perrys sings, "so comfortable we're living in a bubble, bubble."
